Welcome to the Nurses Corner
The 2011-2012 school year is half way complete, 2nd semester has just begun. Plese check to see if anything needs to be updated for the remainder of the school year. If you child has a medical condition that will need to have an Emergency Care Plan, then pick one up to be completed. Return this to the nurse as soon as possible so emergency care can be provided as needed. Also if medications will be needed here at school , make sure you pick a Medication Authorization form to be completed and signed by their physician. Any medications used at school must have a current form on file. Forms for Emergency Action Plans and Medications can be obtained through the school office or from your school nurse. They also can be printed off from your computer by going to the school forms section below.
This page is set up to keep parents, students and staff informed of issues related to the nursing activities. The anouncement section will include upcoming events as well as times the nurse will be out of the office. The Link section will contain some web sites that have medical information that may be beneficial to you. There is a section containing Files and Forms used within the school system related to medical concerns. It also will have pages that students can access for activity sheets. Please check out the Web page for info on myself as well as for more indepth info on upcoming events.
I can be reached at West Jr (652-3390), Mon, Tue, Thur, Fri from 8am to 3:00pm. Starting in 2012, I will be at McDowell Early College on Wednesday at same times. You also can reach me by my e-mail address below. Please keep me informed of any concerns or questions. Also if you plan on coming by the school, call ahead to make sure that I am not in a meeting.

Announcements Change in Health StatusPlease be sure to contact nurse office during school year with any health changes related to students. It is important to keep these up to date in case of emergency situations. Also be sure to complete an Emergency Action Plan as needed for Health Concerns. These can be picked up from the nurses office at school.
 MEDICATIONS AT SCHOOLReminder to parents, ALL MEDICATIONS USED DURING SCHOOL HOURS MUST have a signed Medication Authorization form. This includes emergency medications such as inhalers and epi-pens. Students that are caught with medications and do not have permission forms at school, are under violation of the boards "drugs" policy. This can mean a 365 day suspension from school for students. Please take time to get these forms completed and signed by their physician and yourself before students have medications at school.
